Working Group Objective:
To develop a prequalification framework to manage contractors in relation to SHEQ, Corporate Responsibility and Governance issues that can be used by the APUG members.

Benefits:

• Establishes a common standard promoting higher standards e.g. health, safety, environmental and quality.
• Reduces duplication and the costs of prequalifying contractors between the utilities.
• Enables members to qualify the capabilities of existing and new contractors.
• Supports continuous improvement programmes between the utilities and their contractors

Status:
A Prequalification framework has been established by one of the members.  The framework provides the next tier of information held within the APUG SIS and is consistent with AS/NZS 4801:2001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems) and ISO 14001:2004 (Environmental Management Systems). A review is currently underway to extend and standardise this framework for use by the other APUG members.
