APUG Begins Active Sourcing Initiative

November 3, 2010 - At the APUG Hong Kong Conference a working group of the Asia Pacific Utilities Group conducted a survey amongst all member organisations to identify the categories of products to be sourced within the region in the next two or more years.

The survey suggests that members of the Asia Pacific Utilities Group have high interests in the following categories:

• Cable & Accessories - Distribution

• Distribution Transformers

• Transmission Transformers

• Meters and Associated Equipment

• Switchgear - Distribution

• Switchgear - Transmission

• Generation

  
  

As a result APUG and Achilles agreed to conduct an active supplier sourcing exercise where Achilles will locate and invite relevant suppliers to register on the APUG Supplier Management System - a joint supplier pre-qualification system currently used by buyers from the Asia Pacific Utilities Group. This will give member organisations the ability to quickly shortlist potential suppliers for upcoming tenders and projects when needed in the very near future.
