Utilities from China, India and the Philippines attend APUG Conference in Macau.
November 28-29, 2007 - Utilities from across the Asia Pacific region attended the APUG Conference hosted by CEM in Macau. Procurement Managers for the current members in Australia, Hong Kong, and Macau were joined by representatives of utilities from Mainland China, India and the Philippines for the conference.
Despite the wide geographical spread of the companies who were represented, all could identify with common issues facing the industry. The unique opportunity to exchange experience, network and benchmark with utility procurement professionals on an international level was seen as a significant advantage in the feedback from all of the prospective members who attended. With many of the existing members looking to identify alternate sources of supply from emerging markets, the introduction of utilities from these countries was warmly welcomed by the members.

At the end of the two day event, Desmond Ho, Business Development Manager of Achilles Information Hong Kong said, “This marks a significant landmark in the growth of APUG’s membership across Asia. With such a good attendance from utilities across the region, and in particular with the introduction of companies from China, India and the Philippines, we have seen the potential for wider international collaboration through APUG. Thank you to CEM and all of the participants who made this such a successful event”
Note: Copies of the presentations, papers and minutes from the Conference are now available to APUG members in the Resources Section of the website.
